Named after the poet and painter Else Lasker-Schüler, the Else Ensemble comprises German and Israeli musicians, prize-winners of international competitions and members of leading orchestras worldwide. The ensemble is dedicated to the performance of German and Jewish composers and eagerly explores neglected works and repertoire suppressed by political events. As part of its research, the ensemble works with editions by publishers such as Schott and Donemus.

The Else Ensemble regularly collaborates with diplomatic and cultural institutions and has also initiated innovative interdisciplinary concerts. With its enthusiastic music-making and unique sound, the Else Ensemble has performed throughout Europe as well as in Israel, appearing at such prestigious concert series as the SWR Schlosskonzerte (Ettlingen) and at major venues, such as the Berlin Philharmonie and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

In 2024, the ensemble presented its debut CD featuring chamber works by Johanna Senfter, which garnered widespread praise and was distinguished with the Millésime 2024 award from Crescendo magazine.
